Bloom’s Taxonomy might sound scary but it’s just a system that organizes verbs for teaching. Effective learning outcomes and objectives start with a verb. When writing an outcome and corresponding objectives, ask yourself what result do you want your participants to have? Be very literal in the verb you choose.  You may start off with understand but you need to be more specific. If you want them to describe, practice, express or feel something, you must make it explicit with a verb.

When you follow adult learning principles, you will have participants that are genuinely engaged in the learning process. We’ve seen what happens when educators ignore these principles. Trust us, you don’t want that to be you!
